Gym Life
The gym has an Unstoppable challenge underway. Third year running. To stay in the challenge you must complete 20 workouts each month, all year long, and log them in the gym’s system. The workouts must be logged by the end of the current month or, you are out. Workouts do not need to be done in a group class but must be recorded. If you are away you can join a class by Zoom or you can do it on your own time and log it. The majority of my workouts are completed outside of a group class. This challenge started in March 2020 during the first lock-down. People who opted in at that time were allowed to go back and make up missed workouts in January and February t join the challenge. A group did just that but it was a one shot deal. No make-ups allowed now. Truth is, I was so thrown off by the first shut-down that I could not bring myself to do a single gym workout for many days after the gym shut it doors. I could only tolerate workouts of my own making. However, being a fitness enthusiast, who loved going to the gym, I found I had completed just enough workouts when the gym shut to qualify for the 2020 challenge. Nothing to make-up. I was in. The challenge was the kick I needed. I dusted myself off and got going, resuming programmed gym workouts from my yard, the park, beach. A long- winded story, the bottom line is I am now battling for a third Unstoppable year with a handful of other originals. I think there were only 7 of us who made it in 2020. Today in the gym, an original confessed me she plans to make this her last year along with two other originals. I indicated I was on their page. I understood the need get off this burdensome train. To be free. But, truth is, I know, in my heart of hearts, that I won’t jump.
