For the Love of Riley
Today, I am pressing a full reset. It is time to move forward with my fitness. I’ve been stuck in no man’s land. This blog will become about how I am finding new ground. Today I started with Hero WOD Riley at the gym. 1.5-mile run, 150 get-ups, 1.5-mile run. It took me 58:08. It was meant to be 150 burpees, not the get-ups, as I chose to do. Given the structure of my right arm, doing regular burpees leads to major overextension of my spine. My back seized on me doing burpees last Saturday, which has never happened to me. The experience caused me to take a step back and take a solid look at my lifestyle and its impact on my health. Things need to change. A foot put down. Why have I been so resistant to taking the steps I need to take to get where I want to go? I do not want to stay in this place anymore, but it means giving up some things, which is hard to do. Off to train my neighbour, a wonderful Persian woman who speaks little English.
